Calpe
Properties for sale in Calpe
Calpe is originally an old fishing port full of culture and history. It is also said that Hemingway spent a lot of time here. Calpe is something quite different today than at Hemingway's time and has grown to be a kind of "mini-Benidorm" with high-rise buildings, hotels and lots of offers for the vast amount of tourists attracted to all the offers here every year (perhaps especially the beaches ). Despite the enormous development, the city has managed to preserve its charm. Peñon de Ifach is a rocky outcrop that divides the beach of Calpe in two (looks like Gibraltar) and is a well-known landmark in Calpe and a declared nature reserve. If you are in shape and do not suffer from fear of heights, we recommend that you walk / climb to the top. The view is fantastic. Calpe's ancient streets in the old town stand there as evidence of curving times with their city walls.
Walk through Forat de la Mar and up to Miguel Rosello square where you can see the defense tower Torreo de la Peca. Don't forget to visit the Arrabal Arab Quarter close by. This area of Calpe is full of walls, monuments and museums. In Calpe itself there are mostly apartments - other types of properties such as villas and townhouses etc. can be found on the outskirts of the city and then preferably a little up the hills surrounding it. This also gives nice views from most.
