A little further north and a few kilometers into the country lies Pego. Among Norwegians, the name is perhaps best known for a development area called Mont Pego. Mont Pego is a hillside located approx. 7 km. before you get to the actual Pego (city). While Mont Pego is a typical "tourist and holiday resort", Pego is a common Spanish village where people live all year round and foreigners do not feel the city. If you want to live in the real Spain then you may well consider Pego. The city is "great size" and there are modern, newly built properties here at prices that should not scare anyone. The picture to the right shows examples of newly built villas with their own plot of approx. 4-500 m2, beautiful well-kept garden, and access to common area with large pools and nice green area. The houses are large (almost 200 m2 with 3 bedrooms) and have a high standard. The fact that it is within walking distance to the city center, market, shops, square, restaurants and cafes should not make these houses less attractive. Prices from approx. NOK 2.5 million. Closer to the center you will find newly built apartments with lovely communal areas, several pools and a garden. Prices from under NOK 1 million. Around and behind Pego you will find several valleys with rivers and beautiful scenery, a rich bird and wildlife, hunting opportunities, fantastic hiking terrain and many beautiful hiking trails. At the same time it is no more than about 15 minutes to the coast and the beautiful beaches between Denia and Oliva and the collision to the AP7 motorway are only approx. 10 minutes from Pego. And if you are first on the incredibly beautiful Spanish highway system then you come quickly and comfortably to almost anywhere in Spain. Pego is perhaps a "different" choice if one is considering settling here in Spain - but take a look yourself and do not reject it because "all other Norwegians" say something else.
